I received word yesterday that Allan "The Skipper" Kelly had passed away.
There was a brief post on his blog BMEWS (Barking Moonbats Early Warning System) and then the blog shut down.
In my early blogging days, I stumbled upon BMEWS and got in an immediate war of words with Allan and Vilmar.
After the little 'spat' Allan & Vilmar became good friends--we understood and accepted each other's 'philosophy' on things.
Blogging was a learning experience for me then and Allan often helped me personally with a lot of technical issues I had and BMEWS itself taught me that issues are not black and white and to explore all sides of an issue.
Unfortunately, last year Allan's Irish temperament clashed with my Italian temperament and we stopped communicating.
A mutual loss, I'm sure.
I had always hoped that we would "mend the fences" but it never happened.
Damn.
I did obtain some information (from the St. Louis coroners office) this morning.
According to them, there were no suspicious circumstances and he was found in his bed--someone had reported him "missing".
They are currently trying to contact relatives.
At my age, the death of a relative or friend just overwhelms me.
Rest in peace, old friend.
